Biography

Alvaro Hernandez Crassus is a PhD Candidate in Political Science at Florida International University (FIU). His academic interests focus on democracy, populism, authoritarianism, transculturation, and the influence of language, culture, and new technologies (more specifically, AI) on the shape of political realities.

He holds an M.A. in Latin American and Caribbean Studies and a B.A. in International Relations with a double major in Political Science and Latin American and Caribbean Studies, both from Florida International University (FIU), and is also a Phi Beta Kappa inductee in the FIU chapter. Before that, he obtained an A.A. from Miami Dade College (MDC) and a T.S.U. (Tecnico Superior Universitario) in International Trade (Comercio Exterior) from Instituto Universitario de Nuevas Profesiones (IUNP) in Caracas, Venezuela. At the IUNP, he taught the courses Foreign Trade Procedures (Tramitaciones de Comercio Exterior) and Seminar on Non-Traditional Exports (Seminario de Exportaciones no Tradicionales).

He has more than 38 years of professional experience in international logistics and trade. During that time, he had the opportunity to advise and work with various private and public corporations conducting business in Venezuela, Colombia, Argentina, Chile, Italy, Spain, China, and the United States.
