Biography
Galina Bogatova is a PhD candidate in International Relations at Florida International University majoring in Gender and Security Studies. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Economics at International Banking Institute (Saint-Petersburg, Russia) in 2011 and her master’s degree in International Relations at Saint-Petersburg State University (Russia) in 2015. Galina is the Washington Center (TWC) alumni (as of 2014). During her engagement with TWC, she interned in the Association for Diplomatic Studies and Training and participated in civic engagement project targeting immigrant women issues which prompted her interest in gender implications in international law. Galina’s research interests lie in the area of social hierarchy, gender dynamics and power discourse construction. Galina has collaborated actively with researchers in several other disciplines like economics, sociology, anthropology and psychology to explain gender frameworks of states’ international affairs, interventionism, revisionist foreign policy and aggression. This collaboration resulted in presentations at such conferences as the East European, and Eurasian Studies Annual Convention (2017, 2018), International Studies Association (2018, 2019) and others. Most of her works concern ideational, sentimental and strategical dynamics in Eastern Europe and Middle Asia with the focus on Russian foreign policy. Thus, some of her presentations and works submitted for publication are titled as follows: “The Role of Social Media in Euromaidan,” “Dynamics of Russian Energy Governance and Dual Pricing Policy towards the EU,” Does Putin Attempt to Build a Multipolar World?”, “Regional Hegemon or Household Despot: Russian Strategies in Eurasia.”
