Biography
Mohamed K. Ghumrawi holds a Ph.D. in International Relations (2022) and M.A. in International Studies (2017). He is the Senior Program Coordinator at the Mohsin and Fauzia Jaffer Center for Muslim World Studies at FIU, the founding faculty director of the “FIU in the Middle East” study abroad program to Jordan, Palestine and Israel, and the faculty director of the FIU Model United Nations program. He also sits on the Board of Directors for the Jerusalem Peace Institute.
Dr. Ghumrawi’s research focus includes the Palestinian diaspora, dynamics surrounding the Palestinian-Israeli question, the politics and international relations of the Middle East, conflict resolution, peace studies, state formation, foreign policy and security studies. Before completing his Ph.D., he served as an academic advisor in the Green School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) at FIU, an APSIA accredited college. In addition, as a Middle Eastern scholar and enthusiastic activist, Dr. Ghumrawi is proud to contribute to FIU’s multicultural and dynamic community. Some of his non-academic work includes grassroot advocacy and community organizing to help uplift marginalized communities and advance global justice.
