The Department of Politics and International Relations at Florida International University combines traditional disciplinary strengths in political science with a multi-disciplinary approach to the study of international relations.
Graduate Studies
The Department provides both disciplinary and interdisciplinary graduate training. It encourages a vital and challenging exchange of ideas among students and faculty members, who investigate a stimulating range of topics
Model United Nations Program
At FIU, the Model UN program is a political science course offered in the spring where students study the art of diplomacy and use their skills to compete in national conferences. The class is an interactive environment that engrosses students in different aspects of diplomacy and international affairs.
Diplomat in Residence
The U.S. Department of State assigns Senior Foreign Service Officers to the position of Diplomat in Residence (DIR) at certain colleges and universities throughout the United States. The DIR program is central to the effort to recruit the best and brightest young graduates to represent the United States' interests around the world.
