Jermaine is a Jamaican national currently pursuing his PhD in Political Science at FIU, having started in the Fall semester of 2017. He holds both Bachelors of Arts in Media and Communication (emphasis on Public Relations) along with a MSc. in Government from the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus (UWI), obtaining both in 2012 and 2015, respectively. Prior to joining FIU, Jermaine served as a Teaching Assistant in his native Jamaica at the UWI, where he gained invaluable teaching experience in both Political Science and International Relations courses. His current research interest focuses primarily on the theoretical underpinnings and practical utilizations of emergency powers within Anglophone Caribbean jurisdictions, primarily as it relates fighting crime within his home country.
