Dr. Galib Bashirov, a recent graduate of the International Relations Doctoral Program, submitted a research proposal to the NAC-NU Central Asia Studies Program. The program is a joint effort between George Washinton University and Nazarbayev University that aims to "develop state of the art research and act as a hub for research on and in Central Asia." Dr. Bashirov's proposal was one of fifteen proposals selected out of one hundred and thirty submissions and will receive a $2,500 stipend as part of his award. In addition, he was invited to present his research at Nazarbayev University in Astana, Kazakhstan this Fall, where two of the presenters will be selected for a one-month fellowship at George Washington University. The PIR Department would like to congratulate Dr. Bashirov on receiving his Ph.D. this Spring semester, and on his successful proposal to the NAC-NU Central Asia Studies Program call for papers. We wish him luck in his endeavors and hope that he will continue to succeed in his professional and academic career.
